This is a cleaned up version of the software I wrote to help develop Fontimus Prime. It displays the texture (.TXTR) files within Metroid Prime games that are associated with .FONT files, with proper support for these files' non-standard use of layers.


A Windows build is provided, as is the source. Mac OS and Linux users will have to build Tixov themselves.

I loathe how in order to get in touch with just about anyone on the Internet nowadays I am obliged to sell my soul to some scumbag social media company.

Of course, a huge part of the blame for this must be borne by spammers, who a decade ago began to make publicising one's e-mail address a losing battle.

Being isolated may eventually kill me, but that's still infinitely superior to the alternative.

There is little that has not been said or written about the enigmatic No Man's Sky at this point, but 8-bit history holds an interesting lesson about the scope of procedural space games — a reference I have so far not seen anybody else mention.

A decade or so ago I enjoyed this piece reprinted in the Guardian about the development of Bell and Braben's 1984 8-bit procedural space magnum opus Elite. This title clearly influenced NMS's development a great deal, and this article contains one very telling passage of particular relevance to Hello Games' controversial offering.
